An Order for Transgender Worship

Preparation for Worship
"We,
The birds without sky
Deer without woods
Fish without water
Trees without roots
Come, give, friends
A human symbol, a wing of an angel
Our sexual rights,
Vote, ration card,
Bathroom, alternative laws
Your each spit and beat is on our face
For Brahma’s [God] mistake
on Krishna’s face" 2
We are mere objects
For you to mock at
Something for your ENTERTAINMENT programme,
You call us prostitutes
Our walk, clap and behaviors
is something for you to imitate?.
But friend,
Have you ever thought of
we also have a life and a story to tell you
a heart breaking story”

Christmas - celebration or living

Christmas Message

Christmas: Celebration or Living (An other way of living)

Prepared by : Shaiju C Joy, Leonard Theological College, Jabalpur

Greetings to you, all in the precious name of my God and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is indeed a great privilege for me to stand before you to deliver Christmas message at this auspicious occasion of Christmas Carol Singing Competition organized by St. Andrews Mar Thoma Church, Jabalpur. I don’t want to limit this event to a mere competition rather I value and respect this as a platform for ecumenical togetherness as one community irrespective of the barriers like creed, dogmas or faith. This is an occasion for strengthening our ecumenical relationships. So I congratulate the organizers for their effort and all the participants for taking pain to participate in this event.

Dayabai - A living legend

Dayabai is a living legend who has dedicated her life for the service of the God Tribal in the Chindhwada district of Madhya Pradesh. Living in a remote village, Barul, among the people for whom she is serving she has shown a way of simplicity, utmost dedication and a life of ‘declassing herself’ for the service of others. When I am using the word ‘serving’ I am not sure whether she will accept it or not. She believes it is ‘living’ not serving. When we analyze her ‘living’ in the perspective of communication we can experience an alternative way of communicating the message of Gospel through her life style.

Genesis 1: 26-31

Genesis 1:26 - 31

I have gone to Mumbai for my practical and thesis data collection last summer vacation. As I have contacted many NGOs working among hijadas before, and they assured their help, I thought it would be very easy for me to reach them. But it was not so easy. My attempts one after another failed. Being desperate, one day I came to an Internet Café and joined in a chat room of transsexuals. I sent a message in the public room mentioning my need and my wish to learn about them. But no one replied, except a boy (or girl) from Aurangabad. He replied me to ask whatever I want to ask.
